Can’t get to France? Try Michigan…

Michigan’s “Riviera”

With more than 3000 miles of Great Lakes shoreline (more fresh water coastline than any other state) Michigan is sure to have some great beaches. But, can they rival the French Riviera, one of the world’s most famous beaches? According to an in-flight magazine, they can. How ironic is it, then, that “Riviera” is spelled correctly in the blurb about Michigan, but incorrectly as “Riveria” in the blurb about France?

By the way, I’ve never had the privilege to enjoy France, but I’ve been to St. Joe — a nearby summer getaway for the Chicago elite. It is quaint and lovely, and the beach is clean and beautiful. All that’s missing is the salty sea smell I grew up with to make it perfect.

Very odd comparison, indeed! I was once on the French Riviera. I’ve also been to St. Joe can’t for the life of me see how anyone could compare one with the other. Maybe the missing nude beaches would be a tip-off?
