Prom Season is Upon Us

Prom is an exciting time for a high schooler, boys and girls. It’s a wonderful rite of passage that I hope everyone out there reading this has had a chance to experience. But, it’s also a vulnerable time for teens. There isn’t a parent I know who wants to comfort another parent on the loss of a child as a result of prom-related behaviors.

Some enterprising youths in our community came up with this great program and slogan: “My Sober Promise.” It’s a covenant they enter into with their parents that they will not drink on prom night. It’s got my support.

I love that the kids even wear T-shirts proclaiming their commitment. Unfortunately, there’s a little problem with the T-shirt this year. Someone is already slurring their words.  Let’s have a great sober prom anyway!

Oops. For some reason, it gutted my post. OK, lemme try it again:
    PROM
    IS
    [a]
    S
    [ober]
    E
    [vening]
the capitalized stuff making up the acronymish, and the stuff in [brackets] being omitted.

Sheesh! I have enough trouble with English, I really don’t need to have to contend with programming languages!
